The South Kingstown Community Electricity program has announced new summer electricity supply prices that go into effect beginning with the May meter read. The new prices are fixed for six months and will be adjusted to winter rates in November 2024. Current participants do not need to take any action to remain in the program and will receive the new pricing for the product in which they are currently enrolled.

Questions about the changes? The Town announced these rates in March in a press release.

South Kingstown Community Electricity is our town’s electricity supply program launched in May 2023. The Program aims to help our community members manage electricity costs, increase renewable energy use, and reduce carbon pollution.

If you receive a letter from the Program, you are likely a newly eligible customer. The Town is excited for you to join! Please contact us if you have any questions.

South Kingstown Community Electricity is a municipal electricity aggregation, operated by the City of South Kingstown, and authorized by R.I. Gen. Laws § 39-3-1.2.

There are two parts to your Rhode Island Energy electricity bill, (1) Supply Services, and (2) Delivery Services. 

If you participate in South Kingstown Community Electricity:

• The utility, Rhode Island Energy, will continue to provide all Delivery Services, which includes responding to power outages. You will continue to receive your electricity bill from Rhode Island Energy.
• The Supply Services portion of the Rhode Island Energy bill will change to reflect your participation in South Kingstown’s program.
• Customers in the Low-Income Rate Class (A60) will continue to receive their current percentage discount on the entire electricity bill.
• Budget Billing customers will continue to receive benefits on the delivery portion of the bill, however budget billing is not yet available on the supply portion of the bill.
• Customers that receive solar electricity benefits from net metering credits and/or Renewable Energy Growth Program payments will continue to receive those benefits.
• You may leave the Program or switch to a different program option at any time, without penalty.
